Charles Fuhrken

Charles Fuhrken is a literacy researcher and assessment specialist based in Austin, Texas, known for his work helping teachers understand and use reading assessments effectively. He is the author of What Every Elementary Teacher Needs to Know about Reading Tests (From Someone Who Has Written Them), published by Stenhouse in 2009, and What Every Middle School Teacher Needs to Know about Reading Tests (From Someone Who Has Written Them).

Fuhrken has extensive experience writing standardized reading tests for major testing companies and serves as Lead Editor of the English language arts development team at Mentoring Minds. In addition to his assessment books, he co‑authored When Writing with Technology Matters and has written about literacy practices such as moviemaking projects in the classroom.
