Chase Orton

Chase Orton is a veteran mathematics educator and consultant who has worked in math education for more than two decades. After earning his degree from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, he spent 12 years as a high school math teacher at schools including The Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut; The Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center in Estes Park, Colorado; and Environmental Charter High School in Lawndale, California. He has served as a classroom teacher, math department chair, and instructional leader, and is known for his focus on creating productive, inspiring, and humanizing math classrooms for both teachers and students.

In 2012, Orton founded Mobius Educational Consulting, through which he works as an independent consultant and collaborator with districts and non-profits, offering custom workshops, seminars, lesson study facilitation, and instructional coaching for K–12 educators. He is the lead author of MathLinks, a comprehensive middle school mathematics curriculum, and is a Desmos Fellow and Certified Facilitator for Illustrative Mathematics. A frequent presenter at professional organizations such as NCTM, NCSM, and the California Math Council, Orton is also an editor with The Global Math Department newsletter and writes about his work at chaseorton.com.
