Chris Amirault

Chris Amirault, PhD, is an early childhood education leader and author with more than three decades of experience in high-quality early learning programs. He is the co-author of Finding Your Way Through Conflict: Strategies for Early Childhood Educators and the author of Sparking Learning in Young Children: Classroom Best Practices. He holds a PhD in cultural studies from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and has directed NAEYC-accredited Early Head Start, preschool, and state pre-K programs, including serving as school director at Tulsa Educare MacArthur in Oklahoma and previously leading the Brown/Fox Point Early Childhood Education Center affiliated with Brown University in Rhode Island.

Across his career, Amirault has taught early childhood education and development courses at area colleges and universities, facilitated workshops on topics such as conflict, assessment and instruction, ethics and professionalism, challenging behavior, family engagement, anti-bias education, and equity, and consulted on organizational culture and quality improvement systems. He has also held leadership roles in the early childhood field, including serving as president of the Rhode Island AEYC affiliate and chair of the Council for NAEYC Accreditation, and has published articles in several early childhood journals and presented at numerous state and national conferences.
