Chris Jakicic

Chris Jakicic, EdD, is an education author and consultant specializing in professional learning communities (PLCs) and common formative assessment. She began her career as a middle school science teacher and later served as principal of Willow Grove Elementary School in Illinois for nine years, followed by serving as principal of Woodlawn Middle School in Illinois from its opening in 1999 through spring 2007. In these roles, she helped develop high-performing collaborative teams and led staff in building a collaborative, learning-focused culture that used formative assessment practices to improve student motivation and achievement.

Jakicic holds a doctor of education (EdD) from Loyola University Chicago and has worked as an adjunct instructor at National-Louis University and Loyola University Chicago. She has coauthored multiple books with Kim Bailey, including Common Formative Assessment: A Toolkit for Professional Learning Communities at Work®, Simplifying Common Assessment: A Guide for Professional Learning Communities at Work, and Make It Happen: Coaching With the Four Critical Questions of PLCs at Work®, as well as other works and journal articles on common assessments, PLCs, and formative tools for school leaders.
