Christi Cartwright-Lacerda
Christi Cartwright-Lacerda is an ESL/ELD teacher and education consultant specializing in multilingual learners (MLs) and students with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE). She has taught MLs and SLIFE for about 10 years and has received multiple honors, including the Rising Star Teacher of the Year Award from her school district in 2018, the NoVo Foundation SEL Innovation Fund Award in 2018, the Sontag Prize in Urban Education (2017, 2021, 2022, 2023), and the MATSOL Linda Schulman Innovation Fund Award (2018, 2020).
Cartwright-Lacerda coauthored Learning Unlimited: Strategies for Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education and Other Struggling Multilingual Learners (ASCD, 2024) with Nicoleta Filimon, and she presents locally, regionally, and internationally on social-emotional learning for multilingual learners and instructional strategies for MLs and SLIFE. She also writes about literacy and support strategies for multilingual learners in professional outlets such as ASCD.
