Christi Kasa-Hendrickson
Christi Kasa-Hendrickson (Christi Kasa), Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Special Education/Teaching and Learning at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, where she also serves as Director of the Office of Inclusive Services. She earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies from California State University Long Beach, an M.A. in Special Education from Chapman University, and a Ph.D. in Teaching and Leadership from Syracuse University. Her teaching and research focus on inclusive schooling, universal design for learning, access to academics and communication for students with significant disabilities, and inclusive postsecondary education.
Kasa-Hendrickson began her career as an elementary teacher in the public schools of California, working as a general education teacher, special education teacher, and inclusion facilitator for students with significant disabilities. She has authored and coauthored publications in journals including the American Educational Research Journal, The International Journal of Inclusive Education, Disability & Society, and The Journal of the Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps. Her expertise in differentiated instruction, inclusive schooling, and communication supports for autistic students informs her contributions to works such as You're Going to Love This Kid!: Teaching Autistic Students in the Inclusive Classroom and related inclusive education resources.
