Christian Robinson

Christian Robinson is an American illustrator, author, animator, and designer known for his work in children’s books, including the Spanish edition “Última parada de la calle Market” (Last Stop on Market Street), written by Matt de la Peña. Born on August 2, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, he grew up in a small, crowded one-bedroom home and later studied animation at the California Institute of the Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Before focusing on picture books, Robinson worked in animation with Sesame Workshop and Pixar Animation Studios.

Robinson’s illustrations for Last Stop on Market Street helped the book earn the 2016 Newbery Medal, a Caldecott Honor, and a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor. His broader body of work includes illustrating acclaimed titles such as “Harlem’s Little Blackbird,” “Josephine: The Dazzling Life of Josephine Baker,” “Gaston,” and “Leo: A Ghost Story,” as well as creating his own picture books like “Another” and “You Matter,” both recognized as New York Times bestsellers or Best Illustrated selections.[15
