Christian Valdez

Christian Valdez is a PhD candidate in the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education at Georgia State University. He holds a master’s degree in education and taught elementary school for three years as a dual-language bilingual education teacher in Atlanta. Since 2019, he has instructed and coached preservice dual-language bilingual education teachers and facilitated professional development for educators working with emergent bilinguals.

His research focuses on dual-language bilingual education teacher preparation and professional development, equitable access for culturally and linguistically diverse families, and community-based education outside school settings. He has presented at national conferences, including the American Educational Research Association and the Literacy Research Association, and has published in GATESOL in Action and the Northwest Journal of Teacher Education. Valdez is an author of Multicultural Literature for Latino Bilingual Children: Their Words, Their Worlds, Second Edition.
