Christopher Butts
Christopher Butts is a Title I coach and educator who has taught in a wide range of roles, including English learner paraprofessional, elementary classroom teacher in grades 3–4, adult ESL teacher, migrant summer school science teacher, literacy coach, and high school U.S. history teacher. Since the 2016–17 school year, he has served as a Title I coach at an alternative school in the Boise School District, where he co-teaches multiple levels of math and English.
Butts is a Teacher Consultant with the Boise State Writing Project, where he has co-designed and co-facilitated online courses focused on informational and argumentative texts and provided training for Idaho school districts on the Common Core State Standards. Beginning in 2013, he collaborated with Teacher Consultants from the National Writing Project and the Idaho State Department of Education to help establish the Idaho Coaching Network, supporting literacy instruction and teacher leadership across the state. He is a coauthor of Planning Powerful Instruction, Grades 2–5: 7 Must-Make Moves to Transform How We Teach—and How Students Learn, part of the Corwin Literacy series.
