Christopher Germer
Christopher Germer, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and lecturer on psychiatry (part-time) at Harvard Medical School. He is best known as the co-developer of the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program with Kristin Neff, an 8‑week training in mindfulness and self-compassion that has been taught worldwide in many languages. Germer is a founding faculty member of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy and the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion at Cambridge Health Alliance, and he maintains a psychotherapy practice in Arlington, Massachusetts, specializing in mindfulness- and compassion-based psychotherapy.
Germer is the author of The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion: Freeing Yourself from Destructive Thoughts and Emotions, and co-author (with Kristin Neff) of The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook: A Proven Way to Accept Yourself, Build Inner Strength, and Thrive, Teaching the Mindful Self-Compassion Program, and Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout. He is also co-editor of the professional volumes Mindfulness and Psychotherapy and Wisdom and Compassion in Psychotherapy, and he teaches and leads mindfulness and compassion workshops internationally.
