Clare R. Kilbane

Clare R. Kilbane is an educational technology scholar and practitioner who focuses on differentiated instruction and the effective integration of digital tools in K–12 and higher education. She co‑authored Using Technology in a Differentiated Classroom: Strategies and Tools for Designing Engaging, Effective, Efficient & Equitable Learning with Natalie B. Milman, a research‑based guide to leveraging educational technology to design rigorous, responsive learning experiences for diverse learners.

Kilbane holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Dayton, an M.A. in Instructional Design and Technology from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Evaluation from the University of Virginia. She has taught and mentored teachers as a faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Capital University, and Otterbein University, and currently serves at the University of Notre Dame’s McGrath Institute for Church Life as Senior Learning Designer, Director of Research and Development for Digital Education, and professor of the practice. Kilbane has written extensively on contemporary pedagogy, including 21st‑century skills, differentiated instruction, technology integration, and digital portfolios, and co‑authored earlier works such as the Digital Teaching Portfolio Handbook and Digital Teaching Portfolio Workbook.
