Colin Seale

Colin Seale is an educator, attorney, and critical thinking expert and the founder and CEO of thinkLaw, an award‑winning organization that helps educators use inquiry-based instructional strategies to close the critical thinking gap and teach critical thinking to all students. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, his early experiences with opportunity gaps—including being tracked into gifted and talented programs and afforded academic opportunities not available to many of his neighborhood peers—sparked a lifelong passion for educational equity. He has worked as a math teacher and later as an attorney, and is now a widely sought‑after keynote speaker and contributor to outlets such as Forbes, Edutopia, The 74, and Education Post, where he writes about critical thinking and equity in education.

Seale is the author of Thinking Like a Lawyer: A Framework for Teaching Critical Thinking to All Students (Prufrock Press, 2020) and Tangible Equity: A Guide for Leveraging Student Identity, Culture, and Power to Unlock Excellence in and Beyond the Classroom (Routledge, 2022). In these works, he draws on his classroom experience, legal training, and work with thinkLaw to provide practical frameworks and strategies for integrating rigorous critical thinking and tangible equity into everyday teaching practice.
