Cory McCarthy
Cory McCarthy (he/they) is a nonbinary trans author of books for young readers and teens whose work has received multiple awards and bestseller recognition. They are the author of Man o’ War, a Stonewall Honor Book, and Hope Is an Arrow, a picture book about fellow Arab American writer Kahlil Gibran. McCarthy contributed and author-illustrated the short story “Museum of Misery” in The Collectors: Stories, the Michael L. Printz Award–winning young adult anthology edited by A. S. King.
McCarthy studied poetry and screenwriting before turning to writing for young adults at Vermont College of Fine Arts, where they now teach. Their fiction often centers on themes of identity and transformation and includes more than a dozen novels as well as illustrated work for young readers.
