D. Jean Clandinin

D. Jean Clandinin is Professor Emeritus and founding director of the Centre for Research for Teacher Education and Development at the University of Alberta, where she has focused her work on teacher knowledge, curriculum studies, and narrative inquiry. A former teacher, counsellor, and psychologist, she completed her B.A. and M.Ed. at the University of Alberta and her PhD at the University of Toronto, later holding academic positions at the Universities of Calgary, Alberta, and Toronto. She is author or co-author of numerous books, articles, and book chapters and has been recognized with major research and career awards, including the AERA Early Career Award, the Whitworth Award for educational research, the AERA Division B Lifetime Achievement Award, the Kaplan Research Achievement Award from the University of Alberta, and a Killam Scholarship.

Clandinin is widely known for her contributions to narrative inquiry in education and the social sciences, particularly through co-authoring Narrative Inquiry: Experience and Story in Qualitative Research with F. Michael Connelly. She also edited the Handbook of Narrative Inquiry: Mapping a Methodology and co-edited the Handbook of Research on Teacher Education, further shaping methodological and conceptual understandings of experience, story, and teacher education.
