Dan Melzer
Dan Melzer is a professor in the University Writing Program and director of First-Year Composition at the University of California, Davis. He holds a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from Florida State University and is a frequent speaker and lecturer on writing and pedagogy at universities across the United States. His research focuses on writing across the curriculum, writing program administration, and response and assessment, and his articles have appeared in journals such as College Composition and Communication, Writing Program Administration, Kairos, and The WAC Journal.
Melzer is the coauthor, with John C. Bean, of the third edition of Engaging Ideas: The Professor’s Guide to Integrating Writing, Critical Thinking, and Active Learning in the Classroom. He is the author of Assignments Across the Curriculum: A National Study of College Writing and Reconstructing Response to Student Writing, and the coauthor of Sustainable WAC: A Whole Systems Approach to Launching and Developing WAC Programs. Sustainable WAC received the 2021 Association for Writing Across the Curriculum/WAC Clearinghouse Best Authored Book Award, and Melzer was named a 2021 Association for Writing Across the Curriculum Distinguished Fellow.
