Author
Dan Santat is an American author and illustrator born in Brooklyn, New York, to Thai immigrants, and he grew up in California. He studied microbiology at the University of California, then trained in art at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena; he is best known for writing and illustrating The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend, which won the Caldecott Medal in 2015.
Santat has also created the animated television series The Replacements for Disney Channel and has published numerous children’s books and graphic novels, including After the Fall, Are We There Yet?, Drawn Together, and A First Time for Everything, which won the 2023 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. His graphic novel The Aquanaut is among his published works.
