Daniel Heck
Daniel J. Heck is Vice President of Horizon Research, Inc. in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and a Principal Investigator in Project AIM. His work focuses on mathematics education, including classroom learning environments and discourse, teacher professional development, curriculum design, and student problem solving.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and history and a master’s degree in education from Wake Forest University, as well as a Ph.D. in education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a specialization in educational psychology and quantitative and evaluative research methodologies. He is also a coauthor of Activating Math Talk: 11 Purposeful Techniques for Your Elementary Students and an editor of Approaches to Studying the Enacted Mathematics Curriculum.
