Danna Thomas is a former Baltimore City Public Schools teacher and the founder and CEO of Happy Teacher Revolution, a Baltimore-born international movement dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellness of educators by increasing teacher happiness, retention, and professional sustainability. She launched Happy Teacher Revolution in 2015 after her own experiences with stress and burnout in the classroom and has since expanded the initiative to reach educators across multiple U.S. states and countries, including sites in Canada and Senegal. She is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Education and a winner of the Johns Hopkins Social Innovation Lab, where she also received the Johns Hopkins Community Hero Award.
Thomas is the author of Happy Teacher Revolution: The Educator’s Roadmap to Claiming and Sustaining Joy, which combines current neuroscience research with her classroom experience to offer self-care practices for educators. In addition to her writing and organizational leadership, she has served as a national spokeswoman for NAMI Maryland’s “Music for Mental Health” campaign and is recognized as a workplace wellbeing expert and mental health advocate.
