Danny Steele

Danny Steele is an award-winning educator, author, and speaker with more than three decades of experience in public education. He has served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and assistant professor of instructional leadership, including principal roles in Alabama schools and a faculty position at the University of Montevallo. Steele earned an undergraduate degree in history from Covenant College, a master’s degree in history from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and both an Educational Specialist and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Samford University. He was recognized as Alabama’s Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year in 2005 and Alabama’s Secondary Principal of the Year in 2016.

As an author, Steele has written multiple books on education and leadership, including coauthoring Essential Truths for Principals with Todd Whitaker, as well as Essential Truths for Teachers, 365 Quotes for Teachers, 365 Quotes for School Leaders, and The Total Teacher: Understanding the Three Dimensions of Effective Teaching. He is also the creator of the widely read SteeleThoughts blog, where he writes about school culture, relationships, and the work of educators, and he speaks nationally to educators on leadership, school climate, and the importance of supporting both students and teachers.
