Darcy Pattison

Darcy Pattison is an American children’s book author, writing teacher, and indie publisher known for award‑winning fiction and nonfiction for young readers. Her work has received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and the Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books, and has earned honors including the Irma Black Honor Award, multiple NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Books selections, Eureka! Nonfiction honors, Junior Library Guild selections, and NCTE/CLA notable books in language arts and social studies. In 2007 she received the Arkansas Governor’s Arts Award for Individual Artist for her contributions to children’s literature.

Pattison is the author of numerous titles, including I Want a Dog: My Opinion Essay, as well as picture books and novels such as The Journey of Oliver K. Woodman, Searching for Oliver K. Woodman, The Wayfinder, The River Dragon, Nineteen Girls and Me, and science‑themed works like Nefertiti, the Spidernaut and Jeremy, the English Garden Snail. Her books have been translated into ten or more languages, and she teaches writing through her Novel Revision Retreat and workshops at venues such as the Highlights Foundation.
