David Bateman
David F. Bateman, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Special Education at Shippensburg University, where he teaches courses on special education law, assessment, and facilitating inclusion. His work focuses on the legal and policy dimensions of special education and on helping schools design and implement effective, legally sound programs for students with disabilities.
Bateman is the editor and coauthor of multiple works on special education law and practice, including Current Trends and Legal Issues in Special Education, often noted as a leading resource on contemporary legal and policy issues affecting special education in the United States. He has also recently coauthored titles such as A Principal’s Guide to Special Education, A Teacher’s Guide to Special Education, Special Education Law Case Studies, Special Education Leadership: Building Effective Programming in Schools, and The Essentials of Special Education Law.
