David Perkins
David Perkins is a professor emeritus at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a founding member of Harvard Project Zero, where he served as co-director for nearly 30 years and now serves as senior co-director and a member of the steering committee. His research has focused on creativity, problem solving, understanding, learning, and the teaching of thinking skills, and Harvard’s Project Zero notes that he has authored more than a dozen books.
His published work includes Making Thinking Visible: How to Promote Engagement, Understanding, and Independence for All Learners and Making Learning Whole: How Seven Principles of Teaching Can Transform Education. Harvard materials also note his doctoral research at MIT in mathematics with a focus on artificial intelligence, and that his early work helped shape his long-term interest in cognitive science and thinking education.
