Dawn M. Reed

Dawn M. Reed is an English teacher at Okemos High School in Okemos, Michigan, and a co-director of the Red Cedar Writing Project at Michigan State University, a site of the National Writing Project. She earned a master’s degree in Writing and Rhetoric with a specialization in Critical Studies in Literacy and Pedagogy from Michigan State University. In her role with the Red Cedar Writing Project, she supports professional development for teachers and coordinates research and training related to the teaching of writing and technology.

Reed is the co-author of Research Writing Rewired: Lessons That Ground Students’ Digital Learning (Corwin Literacy, 2015/2016), written with Troy Hicks, which presents an inquiry-based, technology-rich approach to research writing for students. She is also co-author of Real Writing: Modernizing the Old School Essay (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016). In addition to her books, she has published work in various journals, books, and online venues focused on digital writing, literacy, and classroom practice.
