Deanne Kildare Opatosky

Deanne Kildare Opatosky is a coauthor of The Metacognitive Student: How to Teach Academic, Social, and Emotional Intelligence in Every Content Area, an education title published in 2021 that focuses on integrating metacognitive and social-emotional learning strategies across subjects. She has worked in the field of education for over twenty years, providing professional development for novice and experienced teachers in both urban and suburban school districts.

Opatosky is president of BDO Consulting Services, through which she offers sustained, targeted, and job‑embedded support to schools, with districts reporting improved student achievement as evidenced by growth data. Her staff development work has included underperforming low‑income public school districts, such as those reached via the Academy for Urban School Transformation, as well as affluent private schools including the American School in Switzerland in Puerto Rico.
