Deborah Peart Crayton is the founder and Queen Mather of My Mathematical Mind and the creator of the #MatherMovement, an initiative designed to disrupt the idea that mathematics is optional and to cultivate positive math identities for all learners. She is a CEO, elementary education consultant, sought‑after keynote speaker, and the author of Readers Read. Writers Write. Mathers Math!: Bridging the Gap Between Literacy and Mathematics, which focuses on connecting literacy practices with mathematics to support student comfort, confidence, and curiosity.
With over 30 years in education, Peart Crayton has mentored and coached elementary teachers for more than 20 years, speaking on topics including math identity, elementary math content and pedagogy, and literacy connections to mathematics at local, regional, and national levels. She holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communications and early childhood education, a master’s degree in educational studies with a concentration in literacy, and graduate endorsements in elementary mathematics and teacher development, and she is a doctoral candidate in education program development and innovation, with research focused on math anxiety, math teaching efficacy, and effective professional learning for elementary educators.
