Denise Ashe Devine

Denise Ashe Devine is an educator and co-author of Close Reading for the Whole Class: Easy Strategies for Choosing Complex Texts, Creating Text-Dependent Questions, and Teaching Close Reading Skills, published by Scholastic in 2015. She co-wrote the book with Sandra K. Athans as a practical resource for teachers focused on selecting and analyzing complex texts and developing students’ close-reading skills.

Devine and Athans have also co-authored Quality Comprehension: A Strategic Model of Reading Instruction Using Read-Alouds, Discussions, and Writing and Fun-tastic Activities for Differentiation Comprehension Instruction. A published author description identifies both educators as fourth-grade teachers in New York.
