Denise Furlong

Denise Ammeraal Furlong, Ed.D, is an assistant professor of education and Director of Advanced Programs for Reading Specialist and ESL/Multilingual and Literacy Education at Georgian Court University in New Jersey. She co‑authored Learners First: Purpose and Practicality in Your Early Years of Teaching with Keri Orange‑Jones, a 2025 Corwin title designed as a practical, equity‑focused guide for novice educators and mentorship programs.

Furlong is also the author of Voices of Newcomers: Experiences of Multilingual Learners, an educational book published by EduMatch in 2021 that offers guidance for supporting multilingual and newcomer students and has been recognized in professional reviews and media coverage. Her work and public webinars focus on engaging multilingual learners and maximizing inclusive, health‑centered practices in K–12 classrooms.
