Desiree Yvonne Harrison

Desiree Yvonne Harrison is an elementary mathematics instructional coach with Farmington Public Schools in Michigan and a part-time mathematics education professor at Wayne State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in educational/instructional technology from Wayne State University. Harrison served on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Board of Directors from 2020 to 2023 and founded Kids Math Talk, a platform focused on positive and engaging mathematics learning.

Harrison co-authored Classroom-Ready Rich Math Tasks, Grades 2–3: Engaging Students in Doing Math (2021), published as part of the Corwin Mathematics Series. The book provides standards-aligned, high-cognitive-demand tasks designed to support elementary students’ reasoning, problem-solving, mathematical discussion, and use of multiple solution strategies.
