Devin Elle Kurtz

Devin Elle Kurtz is a bestselling author and illustrator and a digital illustrator and visual development artist whose work focuses on magical, fantasy-infused scenes and richly rendered environments. Born in Santa Cruz, California, in 1996, she has worked in the animation industry as a background painter and designer since 2017 and served as lead background painter on the animated series Disenchantment for Rough Draft Studios from 2019 to 2021. She lives in San Diego, California.

Kurtz is the author of the bestselling “Bakery Dragon” picture book series, with The Bakery Dragon recognized as an Indie Next List pick and Indie bestseller. In publishing, she has illustrated Mother of Sharks, written by Melissa Cristina Márquez and published by Penguin Workshop, which is available in both English and Spanish editions. Her illustration and cover work also includes projects for major publishers such as HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Macmillan, and Simon & Schuster.
