Donald Killgallon

Donald Killgallon is an American English educator and the originator of the sentence‑composing approach, a method that integrates grammar, writing, and literature through systematic work with model sentences. A graduate of King’s College (B.A.), the University of Maryland (M.A.), and Johns Hopkins University (M.L.A. and M.Ed.), he spent most of his career teaching high school English in Baltimore County public schools and has also taught at colleges in the Baltimore area, including Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Killgallon is the author or coauthor of numerous widely used worktexts, including Sentence Composing for Elementary School, Sentence Composing for Middle School, Sentence Composing for High School, and Sentence Composing for College, as well as Getting Started with Elementary School Sentence Composing, Grammar for Middle School, Grammar for High School, Grammar for College Writing, Story Grammar for Elementary School, Daily Sentence Composing, and the Paragraphs for Elementary, Middle, and High School series. Working frequently with coauthor Jenny Killgallon, he has researched, developed, tested, and expanded the sentence‑composing approach, and their texts are used in classrooms across the United States.
