Don Wood

Don Wood is a Caldecott Honor–winning children’s book illustrator best known for his long-running collaboration with author Audrey Wood, his wife, on picture books including the bestselling classic The Napping House. He has illustrated many of Audrey Wood’s titles, among them The Full Moon at the Napping House, King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub (a Caldecott Honor Book), Heckedy Peg, Piggies, and Piggy Pie Po.

Wood was born and raised on a farm in California’s Central Valley and decided at an early age that he wanted to be an artist. He studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and pursued graduate work at the California College of Arts and Crafts before turning to children’s book illustration. Don and Audrey Wood have collaborated on more than 50 books for children, and their works, including The Napping House, have been translated into multiple languages. They divide their time between California and Hawaii.
