Donald S. Kachur

Donald S. Kachur is a Professor Emeritus of Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. His work focuses on instructional improvement and teacher leadership, particularly through the use of classroom walkthroughs as a tool for professional learning and school-wide improvement.

He is coauthor of Engaging Teachers in Classroom Walkthroughs (ASCD, 2013), written with Judith A. Stout and Claudia L. Edwards, a practical guide based on a study of 40 schools in the United States and Canada that details how administrators and teacher leaders involve teachers in focused classroom observations. Kachur also coauthored Classroom Walkthroughs to Improve Teaching and Learning (2010), which explores how systematic walkthroughs can support continuous instructional improvement.
