Barbara Foorman
Dr. Barbara R. Foorman, Ph.D. is an emeritus professor of education and former director of the Florida Center for Reading Research at Florida State University. Her academic background includes a B.A. in English literature from Stanford University, an M.A.T. in language arts/reading from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in education from the University of California, Berkeley.
Foorman’s work focuses on reading and language development, and she has published extensively in the field, with more than 140 publications cited in a U.S. Department of Education practice guide. She is also a coauthor of Phonemic Awareness in Young Children: A Classroom Curriculum and has served as an editor or contributor to other reading-related works and assessments.
