Ilene S. Schwartz

Dr. Ilene S. Schwartz, Ph.D., BCBA-D, is an emeritus professor of special education at the University of Washington and former director of the Haring Center for Inclusive Education in the UW College of Education. She earned her Ph.D. in child and developmental psychology from the University of Kansas and is a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA-D). Her academic and professional work focuses on autism, inclusive education, professional ethics, and the sustainability of educational interventions, and she has played a key role in the development and direction of Project DATA, a model preschool program providing intensive behavioral intervention for young children with autism.

Schwartz is coauthor of Ethical Decision Making in Applied Behavior Analysis, which addresses systematic approaches to ethical decision-making for behavior analysts. In addition to her authorship, she has an extensive background in applied behavior analysis and early childhood special education, teaching and training practitioners and contributing research on inclusive practices for young children with autism spectrum disorder.
