Kathleen G. Winterman
Dr. Kathleen G. Winterman, Ed.D. is an Associate Professor and Director of the Educational Centers in the School of Education at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she has also served as Special Education Program Director and Director of the School of Education. She holds an Ed.D. in Special Education Leadership and has more than 30 years of experience in education, including work as an intervention specialist serving children ages 3–10 in inclusive settings, an elementary principal, an adjunct instructor, and a Praxis III evaluator for the State of Ohio. She holds seven educator licenses from the State of Ohio, and her research interests include teacher preparation, individualized education program (IEP) development, early childhood special education, autism, educational leadership, instructional technology, family supports, and services for students with mental illnesses.
Winterman is coauthor of The IEP Checklist: Your Guide to Creating Meaningful and Compliant IEPs, including its second edition, published by Brookes, which provides practical guidance on developing IDEA-compliant, standards-aligned IEPs. She has also contributed to professional resources and articles on topics such as monitoring progress of students with IEPs, IDEA implementation, and the readability and accessibility of IEPs, and she frequently presents professional development on IEP development
