Elaine Allensworth
Elaine Allensworth is the Lewis-Sebring Director of the UChicago Consortium on School Research and a research professor at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. She has conducted research on educational policy and practice for more than 25 years, with particular focus on students’ educational attainment, school leadership, and school improvement.
Allensworth earned a Ph.D. in sociology from Michigan State University and previously taught Spanish and science at Normandy High School in Parma, Ohio. Her published work includes Using Data to Improve Schools and Organizing Schools for Improvement: Lessons from Chicago, and her research has helped shape early warning indicator systems used by school districts across the country.
