Elizabeth Steinglass
Elizabeth Steinglass is a poet and educator whose debut children’s poetry collection, Soccerverse: Poems about Soccer, was published in 2019 and later named a National Council of Teachers of English Notable Book of Poetry and a Cybils Poetry Award finalist. Her poems for children have appeared in various journals and anthologies, including collections such as The Poetry of US and The Poetry Friday Anthology for Celebrations.
She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where she played soccer, basketball, and softball and began writing her first poems, and she now lives in Washington, DC with her family. Steinglass’s background includes work as a high school English teacher and college writing instructor, and she has taught writing at organizations and institutions such as Writopia, The City College of New York, and Harvard College. In addition to her work for children, she has written poetry for adults, including a chapbook about painter Lee Krasner and poems published in literary journals such as Rust & Moth and Salamander.
