Ellen B. Eisenberg
Ellen B. Eisenberg is an American educator and instructional coaching leader, best known as lead author of Instructional Coaching in Action: An Integrated Approach That Transforms Thinking, Practice, and Schools (ASCD, 2017). She has served as executive director of the Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching (PIIC), a statewide initiative that supports consistent, high‑quality instructional coaching and mentoring in schools, and is also executive director of The Professional Institute for Instructional Coaching (TPIIC), a research-based resource focused on professional development for instructional coaches and teachers.
Eisenberg’s work centers on developing educator-centered instructional coaching models, including the “before‑during‑after” (BDA) cycle of consultation used to guide coach–teacher collaboration. She has written and co‑authored numerous articles and resources on instructional and literacy coaching, and has been described as a former head of English for Philadelphia schools.
