Emily Aierstok
Emily Aierstok is a veteran middle school English Language Arts teacher, curriculum designer, and author based in the Capital Region of upstate New York. She has taught grades 7–12 for more than two decades, beginning her career in 2000 as a substitute and special education teacher before moving into middle and high school ELA classrooms in New York’s Capital Region. Aierstok holds 7–12 teaching certification and a master’s degree in English education, and currently teaches 7th grade ELA while running Read it. Write it. Learn it. LLC, where she creates curriculum and professional resources for ELA teachers.
Aierstok is the author of Read It, Write It, Love It: Step Up Your Planning to Engage and Inspire ELA Students, a planning roadmap for ELA teachers built around her STEP Up system for standards-based, data-driven units and lessons. She also wrote Writing Prompts for Kids: A Creative Workbook for Ages 7 to 9, drawing on her classroom experience to support young writers. In addition to her books, she shares practical strategies for engaging texts and sustainable planning on her Read it. Write it.
