Emily M. S. Rubin

Emily Rubin, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist specializing in autism spectrum disorders, Asperger syndrome, and related social learning disabilities. She is a co-author of The SCERTS Model: A Comprehensive Educational Approach for Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders, a multidisciplinary framework and criterion-referenced assessment tool focused on social communication, emotional regulation, and transactional support for autistic children. Rubin has also contributed to peer‑reviewed work describing the SCERTS Model as a transactional, family-centered approach to enhancing communication and socioemotional abilities in young children with autism.

Rubin serves as Director of Communication Crossroads, Inc., a practice based in Atlanta, Georgia, where she leads educational outreach and professional development related to social-emotional learning and engagement in classroom settings. She is a co-developer of the Social Emotional Engagement – Knowledge and Skills (SEE-KS) professional learning approach and has provided international training and consultation on implementing SCERTS and evidence-based practices for autistic children and adolescents. Rubin has previously held roles as an adjunct faculty member and lecturer at Yale University, participating in its Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic, and has served on the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Ad Hoc Committee on the Autism Spectrum, which developed guidelines on the role of speech-language pathologists in autism diagnosis, assessment, and treatment.
