Erik Palmer

Erik Palmer is a professional speaker, educational consultant, and author based in the Denver, Colorado area, specializing in oral communication and effective speaking in educational settings. After several years in the business world, where he was a national sales leader for a brokerage firm, he spent 21 years as a classroom teacher, primarily in English but also teaching math, science, and civics. He frequently presents at conferences, delivers keynotes, and leads in-service training for school districts across the United States and internationally, focusing on practical ways for teachers and education leaders to improve oral communication skills.

Palmer is the author of Before You Say a Word: A School Leader’s Guide to Clear and Compelling Communication, as well as several other books on speaking and communication, including Well Spoken: Teaching Speaking to All Students, Teaching the Core Skills of Listening & Speaking, Researching in a Digital World, Good Thinking: Teaching Argument, Persuasion, and Reasoning, and Own Any Occasion: Mastering the Art of Speaking & Presenting. His educational background includes study at Southern Methodist University and Oberlin College, where he earned a BA in Government, and graduate work at the University of Denver College of Law and the University of Colorado, where
