Gary S. Bloom
Gary S. Bloom is an author and national consultant specializing in teacher and school leadership development, coaching, and supervision. He has more than 40 years of K–12 education experience, including service as a bilingual K–12 teacher, principal, director of curriculum, and assistant superintendent. Bloom is the former superintendent of Santa Cruz City Schools and a co‑founder and associate director of the New Teacher Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he focused on school leadership.
Bloom is the lead author of Blended Coaching: Supporting the Development and Supervision of School Leaders and of the earlier edition Blended Coaching: Skills and Strategies to Support Principal Development. He has also authored or coauthored works such as Coaching‑Based Supervision for Principal Supervisors and Powerful Partnerships: A Handbook for Principals Mentoring Assistant Principals, and co‑edited The Peer Assistance and Review Reader. In addition to his books, Bloom writes and presents on topics including instructional improvement, school leadership, professional development, and coaching‑based supervision for principal supervisors.
