Gerald W. Aungst

Gerald W. Aungst is an educator with nearly three decades of professional experience, specializing in mathematics education, computer science, gifted education, design thinking, and digital technology. He has served in multiple roles including classroom teacher, gifted support specialist, administrator, curriculum designer, and professional developer, and is currently a gifted support teacher in the Cheltenham School District in suburban Philadelphia. Aungst holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a master of education degree from Widener University.

Aungst is the author of 5 Principles of the Modern Mathematics Classroom: Creating a Culture of Innovative Thinking, published by Corwin, and has written for outlets such as Edutopia and ASCD Educational Leadership. He is a founder of the educational websites AllAboutExplorers.com and GamifyED.net and a co‑developer of the All About Explorers project used to teach students about critical evaluation of online information. An experienced speaker, he has presented nationally at conferences including ISTE, NAGC, PETE&C, and other regional and national events focused on curiosity, makerspaces, gamification, and 21st‑century skills.
