Gholdy Muhammad
Dr. Gholdy Muhammad is the John Corbally Endowed Professor of Literacy, Language, and Culture at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her scholarship has appeared in academic journals and books including Research in the Teaching of English, Urban Education, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, Language Arts, and Written Communication. She has also served as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist, school district administrator, curriculum director, and school board president.
Muhammad is the author of _Cultivating Genius: An Equity Framework for Culturally and Historically Responsive Literacy_ and _Unearthing Joy: A Guide to Culturally and Historically Responsive Curriculum and Instruction_. She is also the co-author of _Black Girls’ Literacies_.
