Gianna Cassetta
Gianna Cassetta is an educator, school leader, and author whose work focuses on social–emotional learning, classroom management, and equitable school practices. She began her teaching career in New York City and became one of the first 25 National Board Certified Teachers in the state. Her experience includes serving as a classroom teacher, principal, coach, and district-level leader, and cofounding and leading public, charter-conversion, and charter schools in Harlem, New York, and Denver, Colorado, including the Future Leaders Institute and SOAR Schools. She later supported new school development as a leader in the Office of School Reform and Innovation in Denver Public Schools and has provided statewide professional development and national consulting.
Cassetta is the coauthor of Classroom Management Matters: The Social and Emotional Learning Approach Children Deserve, No More Taking Away Recess and Other Problematic Discipline Practices, and The Caring Teacher: Strategies for Working Through Our Own Difficulties with Students, all published by Heinemann. She is also a certified Goleman Emotional Intelligence Coach and an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation, and she founded The Plain Red Horse Coaching and Consulting, through which she offers equity-focused coaching and consulting rooted in social and emotional intelligence for educators and leaders.
