Gloria Swindler Boutte

Gloria Swindler Boutte is a Carolina Distinguished Professor of Early Childhood Education and associate dean of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of South Carolina. A member of the university’s faculty since 1991, she is the founding executive director of the Center for the Education and Equity of African American Students and has held multiple leadership roles, including department chair and program coordinator for the Ph.D. program in teaching and learning. Her scholarship centers on equity pedagogies, social justice, anti-racism, and pro-Blackness in the education of African American and other culturally and linguistically diverse students.

Boutte is the author or editor of numerous publications, including Revolutionary Love for Early Childhood Classrooms: Nurturing the Brilliance of Young Black Children, co-authored with Kamania Wynter-Hoyte and Nathaniel Bryan and published by Scholastic in 2023.
