Graham Howells is a Welsh children’s author and illustrator born in Antwerp, Belgium, who spent his early years in Bahrain, Malaysia, Singapore, and Germany before settling in west Wales. After leaving art college in 1986, he built a career primarily illustrating children’s books, and he has also worked in film, television, and board games.
His work often focuses on myth, magic, wizards, dragons, and other fantasy creatures. He has illustrated the Dragon Masters series by Tracey West and won the 2009 Tir na n-Og English-Language Award for Merlin’s Magical Creatures. He has also written and illustrated his own books, including The Midwinter Wizard and Merlin Awakes.
