Grant A. Chandler
Grant A. Chandler, Ph.D., is an educator, author, and consultant with over 35 years of experience in K–12 and higher education. He has served as a high school teacher, building and central office administrator, higher education dean, professional learning director at a large research university, technical support provider, and executive coach. He is the lead author of Powerful Student Care: Honoring Each Learner as Distinctive and Irreplaceable (ASCD, 2023), co-written with Kathleen M. Budge, a framework that promotes humanizing, coherent systems of support so each student is treated as distinctive and irreplaceable.
Chandler is the founder, president, and CEO of Students Matter, LLC, where he works with school districts to build coherent, human‑centered educational ecosystems focused on student dignity, clarity, and humanity. Since 2005, he has provided technical support to more than 300 districts to develop systemic approaches to improving student learning and has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a national expert in small learning communities. He also hosts the education‑focused podcast The Wheelhouse and cohosts Abundantly Charged, extending his work on instructional excellence and powerful student care to a broader audience
