Greg Pizzoli

Greg Pizzoli is a children’s author, illustrator, and screen printer best known as the creator of the Baloney & Friends graphic novel series, which includes Baloney and Friends: Dream Big!. He is the author-illustrator of several award-winning picture books, including The Watermelon Seed, Good Night Owl, The Book Hog, Number One Sam, Templeton Gets His Wish, This Story Is for You, and The 12 Days of Christmas. His work has earned multiple Theodor Seuss Geisel honors, including a Geisel Medal for The Watermelon Seed and Geisel Honor citations for Good Night Owl and The Book Hog. Pizzoli also writes nonfiction for children, notably The Impossible True Story of Tricky Vic: The Man Who Sold the Eiffel Tower, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book, and Pizza! A Slice of History.

Pizzoli’s background includes an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he has also taught. Before his publishing career, he spent two years as a full-time volunteer with AmeriCorps/VISTA. His illustration and design work has been featured in
