Gwen J. Pauloski

Gwen J. Pauloski, EdD, is a writer and educator specializing in adolescent literacy and pedagogy. She is the author of Making Deep Sense of Informational Texts: A Framework for Strengthening Comprehension in Grades 6–12, which presents flexible literacy practices to help secondary students deepen their understanding of complex informational texts. Her classroom-based work on informational text comprehension has also appeared in the Texas Association for Literacy Education Yearbook in an article titled “Co-Constructing Meaning: Tools to Help Adolescent Readers Make Sense of Informational Texts.”

Pauloski teaches in the University of Houston’s educator preparation program, focusing on adolescent literacy pedagogy. Over a 17-year span, she taught secondary social studies and English language arts in Seattle Public Schools and Houston Independent School District. She holds a BA in economics from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University, teacher certification from the University of Washington, and an EdD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston, completed in 2020.
